General Protocol (Most Lyophilized Peptides)

Step 1: Gather supplies

  • Lyophilized peptide vial
  • Bacteriostatic water or sterile saline
  • Bacteriostatic water vial
  • 3 mL or 5 mL syringe
  • 18G drawing needle
  • 27G or 29G injection needle
  • Alcohol swabs
  • Gloves

Step 2: Clean tops

  • Wipe peptide vial top with alcohol swab
  • Wipe bacteriostatic water vial top with alcohol swab
  • Allow to dry (30 seconds)

Step 3: Draw solvent

  • Attach 18G needle to syringe
  • Draw required volume of bacteriostatic water
  • Expel air bubbles

Step 4: Inject solvent into peptide vial

  • Insert needle through vial center
  • Slowly inject solvent along vial wall
  • Do not spray directly onto powder (causes foaming)

Step 5: Dissolve

  • Gently swirl vial until powder dissolves
  • Do not shake (causes protein denaturation)
  • Solution should be clear and colorless
  • If cloudy or contains particles, do not use

Step 6: Verify concentration

  • Confirm total volume matches calculation
  • Verify no undissolved material

Step 7: Label vial

  • Peptide name and amount
  • Date and time of reconstitution
  • Expiration date (usually 30 days)
  • Concentration

Step 8: Draw dose

  • Attach 27G or 29G injection needle
  • Draw correct dose volume
  • Expel air bubbles
  • Administer
