Bacteriostatic water (BAC water) is the standard diluent for reconstituting lyophilized peptides. This guide covers composition, selection criteria, storage requirements, and best practices.

  1. Allow BAC water to reach room temperature (5–10 minutes)
  2. Clean vial stopper with 70% isopropyl alcohol swab
  3. Draw appropriate volume into syringe
  4. Inject slowly down the vial wall — never directly onto lyophilized cake
  5. Gently swirl until dissolved (do not shake)
  6. Inspect solution — must be clear and colorless
  7. Label reconstituted vial with peptide name, concentration, date, and expiration

No. Expired bacteriostatic water may have reduced preservative efficacy and should not be used for peptide reconstitution.

No. Freezing may compromise the preservative and physical properties. Store at room temperature (unopened) or 2–8°C (opened).

Most peptides reconstituted with BAC water are stable for 30 days at 2–8°C. Sermorelin is an exception — use within 48 hours.

Not recommended unless specifically directed by a protocol. Mixing may alter pH and osmolarity.
